How to add 'live' query data to spreadsheets:
This is a bit hard to explain but I'll have a crack at it...
Make your query [Right click on Queries in your datasource and choose New Query SQL view or New Query Design view].
Save the query and give it a name.
Open your spreadsheet. Have the datasource view open as well [F4]
Click on your query that you have saved - the query will run and the results appear in the datasources results pane.
In the query results pane, click on the top left hand cell (Where the mouse pointer is - sort of bordering the data, level with the headings and rows.) This will cause the results pane to be selected.

Click and drag this onto your spreadsheet.

The data from your query will be in your spreadsheet.

To refresh the data in the spreadsheet, follow the menu path: Data | Refresh Range. This can be done as a macro etc.
